I have a Hampton Bay Model UC70893T and the remote is giving us fits.. it works when it gets good and ready.. I have changed the battery twice and it still does the same thing. You can click and click and click and until it is ready it will not turn the light/fan off/on and since this is the only way of controlling it, we need help

It somehow got fried. Get a new remote as this one is toast acting like that. Or better yet, get up and manually change the fan setting. Problem fixed!

Check your battery contacts. If it is broke, you can't hut it anymore by dissembling.
Soda or something may have gotten between the buttons and the contacts, I would dissemble clean with soap and water dry out real good, hair dryer? Then try again. Worse case, replace.
You could try changing the dip switches as they can also have a bad connection. Switching back and forth may fix?
