My Fridgidaire front load Gallery Washer will spin with no clothes in it, but not with heavy wet clothes. It makes a whirring noise when it first tries to, kind of like when your car won't start when it is cold out. I've checked lid switch and it is balanced correctly. Any suggestions?

Is this a belt drive? Could be the tensioner. If it is a clutch drive, that could be a problem. Some front loaders are clutch drive and that part is about $100. Check your model# on line to see.

While a certain amount of motor whine is normal during an active spin cycle, it appears that there is more going on here than meets the eye.
