I'm trying to renew my license in the state of RI.. they wouldn't let me... due to the fact of not paying my income tax... I paid my income taxes and now I can't get a hold of anybody today.. not even at the dmv... just trying to find out if they still have a block on my license in the computer... im about to lose my job.

Which ones... State? Federal? Local? What ever agency put the block up is who needs to have it released. Those are the ones you need to contact. They can verify any outstanding taxes were satisfied. Going to the wrong people and arguing otherwise will be futile. When you find which ones made the claim... photocopies of the returns for the years in question will usually provide them enough information. You did file returns, right? You did keep the copies right?
