Please Rate my Custom Gaming Rig? Noob needs help! Lol
am a noob at putting together a build for a computer , so this is , after a lot of research and comparing , my gaming build.

I play Oblivion, Elderscrolls and those kind of RPG games , but really I like to play World of Warcraft and especially Runes of Magic. I also like to stream movies and play DvDs and such.

The laptop I have now freezes to a dead stop on Runes and has about 5fps.. I lag out so bad it's not even worth playing MMORPG's. Sooo... my main questions are these:

    1. Is this build going to allow me to play mmorpgs and high detailed games without lag and sputtering and freezing.

    2. Is this build overkill? I love the build but I'm afraid I have gone waaaay overboard for what I want lol

    Any helpful advice/suggestions are appreciated!

Definitely going to be able to run your games. What kind of budget were you looking at?

My only concern (and I don't have the time to look this up), is if that RAM is compatible with your motherboard. I've noticed that even if it is a compatible type and speed and all that, that there's a lot of pickiness going on with hardware and RAM. You should be able to look it up on Asus's website and get a list of certified working memory.

Also, any reason you're looking at AMD and ATI? Budget reasons? Are you looking at an aftermarket cooler because you want to over clock?

The biggest single point of bad "lag and sputtering and freezing" is your actual broad band connection, which you haven't mentioned here at all.

You need the biggest pipe you can afford, so 10's of mbps is a must..

I went AMD because I like the brand and it seems to have more for the money.

I will check out the ram, didn't know there might be issues so thanks for the heads up :).

I bought the cooler because eventually I will be overclocking and might throw in another GPU, besides I thought better safe then sorry.

My price range was around $1200 without monitor. I have this build for around $1025.00, didn't think that was too bad.

Oh and about the lag issue, I have a laptop that is rated as 3.0 for gaming. It's an Acer Aspire with 3.gb RAM, 250GB HD and an integrated intel 3d graphics card.

My internet is Broadband (cable) and it should be fast enough. I just think my comp blows for online gaming, that's why I'm building this new one.

    Thanks for the info!

Good point about the Internet connection.

Measure your speed at speedtest.net just to be sure.

Although you mentioned you get poor framerate, which is not likely caused by a bad Internet connection, but something like your integrated graphics.

Speed measurement means almost nothing in today's times. It just tells you if your getting close to the connection speed that your paying for. Routing and other factors play a bigger role. Also most cable companies aren't game friendly and provide a service called "boost" with their connection which causes latency. Its absolutely stupid for them to do that as most cable connections are 12 megs or better.

Also many companies are cutting back on users that consume a lot of bandwidth. Its called capping.

I have a question on this:

-Rosewill Xtreme Series RX850-S-B 850W Continuous @40°C ,80 PLUS Certified, ATX12V v2.2 & EPS12V v2.91, SLI Ready CrossFire Ready, Active PFC "Compatible with Core i7, i5" Power Supply

It shows i5 and i7 compatible. Those are Intel chipsets. What you posted was AMD.

Are you sure this powersupply will work ?

This is true. However, SpeedTest.net updated their servers so that they run a longer test (to get a more accurate assessment because of the aforementioned "boost").

My connection will spike over 80Mbps (currently paying for a 65Mbps connection), and SpeedTest.net will still give me an accurate assessment of around 65Mbps.

I don't doubt that some companies are capping people at a bandwidth limit (at least in the US). I know a lot of them will throttle a connection after you reach a certain point (luckily my provider doesn't do this since I easily hit the terabytes each month).
