Fuse wire is a thin electrical wire made of different types of alloys of chromium, aluminum, iron, nickel etc. The fuse wire alloys are: Aluchrom alloy and Cronifer alloy See: http://www.allelectricalproducts.com/fuse-wires.html
There are many types of fuse wire that used to be 63% lead and 37% tin, but that has changed depending on the use because when different metals are hooked together electrolysis occurs and the most reactive metal will corrode, hence aluminum and copper connections cause the more reactive aluminum to corrode. Fuse wires in autos must take this into account. DrTom4444
