I want to remove the starter from my B&S engine, Model 311707, Type 0132-E1. What is the best way to do this?

Is the engine mounted to a mower or a tractor at present? If so, which one?

I thought I replied to your question, but perhaps it didn't get through. The engine is on a Sears tractor, Model 917.270671. Hope this is enough information // Richard

The starter is right next to part #81. After disconnecting the battery and then the cables there should just be 2 bolts holding the starter to the engine. http://www.searspartsdirect.com/part...dMod=917270671

Thank you. I thought it might be necessary to remove the ring gear, Key #726. If I get your response correctly, the starter should just drop down after I unscrew the two bolts that support it. // Richard
