Hello-

My job currently pays hourly + commission however the commission will be ending soon and I am looking for ideas for income to help cover the difference, preferably ideas that pay cash. Unfortunately due to the way my current job schedule works, it is hard for me to get a second job with a consistent schedule. As such, I am looking for ideas that could work on a flexible schedule which don't limit the amount of hours you work. In other words, I would like a job that pays cash with the flexibility of working as many hours as I can per week depending on my schedule.

I would really like to be specific that I am looking for jobs/income ideas that pay cash not check or even independent contract positions. Also I would like emphasize that I am something that pays a decent wage-- I am not looking for a "get rich quick" thing, and I am not interested in working for pennies or peanuts such as pay-per-click jobs, affiliate marketing etc. I am also not interested in starting a business or something that requires upfront investment. I am looking for a job that pays cash and can pay quick. In general I am not looking do manual labor or online jobs, although I am not opposed to either-- just as long as it pays decent (such as mindswarms.com) To help give you an idea, I would like this second source of income to pay anywhere between $500-1000 per month.

Again to be specific, I am hoping for something that can be ongoing and not incidental such as a one-time thing. Anyway, any ideas anybody has, online or not, would be helpful. I look forward to hearing what ideas you may have.

Some friends of mine have small handyman businesses, work 2-4 days a week and make %400-&1000 per week, cash. Pick the work.

You're a good writer with an excellent command of the English language. (I LOVE your comma placements! ) What about freelance editing or even ghostwriting?

Ghostwriting is being the "silent partner" for someone who writes fiction or a memoir or an autobiography. You ghostwrite/rewrite for someone who can't write worth beans but has a great idea and has written the manuscript in his own style.

After careful thinking, I have decided I would like to do a variation of what you (Wondergirl) suggest-- I would like to review Happy hours for a newspaper or website of some sort. I have heard some sites will pay you based on how many people read your review/article. However, I am not sure where I can get started with this or whom I should contact.

I am throwing this out there in case anyone knows a good place to start.

Contact area newspapers which might pay for reviews of area restaurants, bars, etc. (Is that what you mean by "Happy hours"?)

About ten years ago, my local paper said it would pay me to do a regular column on real estate stuff -- house styles, caveats in buying or selling a house, etc. I know of a columnist in Texas who writes about Baby Boomer (1960s) stuff -- toys, games, clothing, etc. There are people hired to be mystery shoppers/diners to check on customer service.

Just curious-- do you know how much to expect to be paid for writing such reviews/articles? Is it usually all commission based on how many view your article? Or are there hourly gigs?

Usually there's a set payment, like at eHow. Some of the sites mentioned in those lists say what a reviewer or writer will get paid. If it's a real-life newspaper, you might be able to negotiate, or, once you've proven your willingness to meet deadlines and write a decent column (and get read by the public), you can ask for a raise.

The hot thing to do right now is write an e-book. I am editing someone's manuscript that will make a terrific e-book.
