When I turn it on the LED comes on for a few seconds then goes off making a little chirping noise. What can I look at?

Probably your inverter. Just a guess but the "chirp" you're hearing is probably the inverter beginning to power the backlight.

Do you get a flash of backlight? It usually looks like the screen is about to turn on. You'll notice the black becomes a little lighter.
