I incorrectly filed as a resident alien whereas, as an international student on a F-1 visa, I should have filed as a non-resident alien for the last 3 years which I found recently. I am on the process of submitting a application to USCIS for my green card.. (I married a us citizen recently.. who went to the same school as mine)..

I am planning to Amend the changes in the tax forms (but after I submit my green card application) because I am already over whelmed with the paper work... my question is does it affect my application process i.e can do it before I appear for the final interview..

The fact that you filed incorrectly COULD have an effect on your green card application, so you should try to get the returns amended as soon as possible.
