Anytime you stop birth control your period will take some time to regulate on its own, or it may never will if the reason you're taking birth control is to regulate it (like me). I had trial and error with about 3 different brands of birth control before I found one that worked best with my body. I use Cyclen. I have found only slight weight gain while on my period and doesn't make me nauseous. Give it a try if your doctor says it will be OK. Good luck, and remember, one birth control pill or shot may be great for ten women but may not be right for you.
