Hi, new to site and need major help.
My boyfriend is on the 3rd year of sex offenders reg. it was over a stupid prank years ago. And is now haunting him bad. He's not committed rape or fiddled with kids, and up until today has always been allowed to see the children in his family who we are all so close with, as he is godparent to his sisters children.
Now out of the blue, social worker has been to see the family, and made to sign forms to say he is not allowed to see them without parent present until they are 18. The children can never stay at our house, and we can't take them out.
Please help, can somebody help us find a way to appeal a case against this

First find out under what law the social worker required these forms. It is possible they violated due process laws. Next research the sex offender laws for your area. ANY question on law needs to include your general locale as laws vary by area.

But he really needs an attorney to represent his interests.

First a social worker can not "make them sign" anything, they can ask them to sign, if they were forced or threatened , he can use that in court to over turn

Thanks for feed back. He got a new parole officer who came and introduced to him, spotted all the family photos up in house, and questioned it from there, this is 3 years down the line. So social services had to go visit his sister and question her etc. We all want to know if he can appeal against this sudden action.

You can appeal ANYTHING!!

I don't know WHAT you're asking... You asked your question, and you got THREE responses that said FIGHT it. What do you think we said you need a lawyer for?? Because we want to see lawyers get rich?? No! We said it so you CAN fight this BS.

Can you do anything on your own?? HELL NO!! YOU haven't got a CLUE about what to do. If you don't hire a lawyer, then all you're doing is making YOURSELF feel good because, at least you inquired...

Like I said, you need to find out what law or rule is being enforced. What threats were made to compel them to sign?

I would think there is a good chance for appeal, but without knowing what rules they used to justify this action it is hard to say. It's also hard to judge without knowing what this prank was that resulted in a conviction as a sex offender.

His old probation officer is trying to set up a meeting with the new social workers to do a review meeting etc. To lift the harsh ness of what has just suddenly been put in place. New social worker is adamant it is until the youngest newphew is 18yrs old, and not just for the remaining 4 years he is on the register. Also getting in touch with his old lawyers who fought for him from beginning. So at least we have things in place :-)

Is there a law called "covering their own ***". Cos that's what is happening. They are clamping down on everybody in England!
