Trane XE 1000 Air conditioning fan will not turn
For several days I have been trying troubleshoot this problem in 95+ degree weather. I have turned of the power to the hose and to the air conditioner and restarted the outside "restart" or "reset" plug outside. When I turned everything on, I set the Unit to fan instead of auto. This worked the first time I did it a few days ago but when I tried to turn the air to a warmer setting 75 degrees it stopped working and the air started to get warm. I turned the unit off again but not it looks like the fans will not turn. I oiled the fan blades with WD-40 because I did see some rust. However, the fan blades turn easily when the unit is turned off but when I try to restart it the fans will not turn. I try to turn them to kick start them. They go about 1/4 of the way then they stop again. Initially, the air in the house feels cool even though the fans are not turning outside. The Unit is making a funny noise and the fan blades will not turn. After about 15 minutes the air in the house gets warm again. Help I live in the hottest place on earth - Savannah, GA.

Before you monkey around and try to fix with WD-40, may I recommend you call an A/C tech out check out your unit properly. It could be somehing simple like a relay or contactor switch gone bad which happens a lot or something major. Please give them a call and come out to properly diagnose your problem as this problem won't go away regardless of how many times you turn it off or on.

Thanks for your advice. I tried to exhaust all my "do it yourself remedies due to being disabled for almost two years. I finally had to call out a servicer. I need a motor. Aprroximately $325.00 in GA. Thanks to a good son with a good job, I should have air soon. It's 97 degrees today : )
