    2002 Honda Accord Heater Problem
My daughter has a 2002 Honda Accord (4 cyl). It will not blow warm air and the engine temp gauge is showing warm. My husband has replaced the thermostat that he purchased from a local parts store, but that didn't help. Now he has taken the car to a local mechanic. He is wanting to put on a factory thermostat to see if this helps. The mechanic called a Honda dealership service department and they said they had never heard of this problem before. If the thermostat doesn't fix it, the mechanic wants to try a new water pump. Any information that I can pass on to my husband would be appreciated.

Make sure the radiator is full, should use honda coolant it works best. If it is full and looks good leave the rad cap off (heater core may have air in it) jack the front of the car about a foot and a half off the ground, turn the car on and run the it like that, occasionally squeezing the top rad hose to burp the air out of the system, keep topping up the rad with coolant while you are burping it, (may make a little mess so make sure coolant doesn't get on the ground). After doing this for about 5 to 10 min or if no bubbles are appearing at the filler neck of the rad it should be purged of air. If that does not work check the water valve, it is located near the fire wall, about center of the car, it's a little black box on a coolant hose that has a wire going to it. Make sure that wire is hooked onto the little arm sticking out of valve and that the wire is free to move on that arm. That is what controls the flow of coolant ot you heater core.
