II there a lesser charge than felony? Is there a lesser charge than misdemeanor?
So, maybe it is possible I could have a felony charge down graded to an infraction. To do this, do I go back to court and if so can I do this myself? I don't even know why "class" felony charge I have, the only reason I accepted a felony was because on the misdemeanor they wanted to give me, I would spend 8 weekends in jail and we are raising 2 young grand children. Can't leave them with my husband as he has severe arthritis in his lower back.

Hello again, c:
Whatever charges are levied are NOT based on YOUR needs. The state doesn't care that you can't leave your grand children... It doesn't care AT ALL.

Thank You excon for your assistance, have a good day.
Upon reviewing this thread, it appears that Charlottesweb_8 has misunderstood the process.
She initially asked whether there are lesser charges than a felony. Yes, frequently there are: misdemeanors and, as excon said, even lesser charges such as infractions. These are sometimes also called violations or, depending on the jurisdiction involved, other terms may come into play as well.
But, as I read her follow-up comments, she has already agreed to a plea to a felony charge. She wrote "I accepted a felony". If this is the case, I don't believe she has the opportunity to get the charge reduced. It's a "done deal" and too late to change it. In any event, charge reduction would have only been available if the prosecutor agreed to it.
I can't forsee a felony being dropped to a ticket. Not in this lifetime.
What did you do that you would rate a felony? AND you just can't do this yourself. Hire an attorney or get the judge to appoint you one if you can't afford one.
Spending 8 weekends in jail isn't so bad. Husband would have to somehow cope with the kids and take care of them.
