    Suing landlord?
Hi, I lived in an apartment for 1 year, I moved out, landlord sent me a bill, which I paid, after 15 days collection agent calls and says that I have to pay $1220 towards damages that I made in the apartment, I argued that I did not get any bill from landlord and I never said I am not going to pay any bills, I am not worried about the money I have to pay, but I am very upset about getting a letter from collection agent, I am planning to sue the landlord because he hurt my feelings, don't you think I am supposed to get a bill from landlord and when I say I am not paying the bill he should contact collection agent

You CANNOT sue someone for "hurting your feelings".
Yes, you should have received an invoice from your landlord and details of the damage, before this was passed to a collection company.

Have you requested a complete breakdown of this alleged amount ?

    If I understand you correctly,
    1. the LL sent you a bill for damages.
    2. You paid it.
    3. Then a collection agent, on behalf of the LL, sent you another bill.

    Is this correct?

Have you informed the agent that you have already paid the LL? It appears that perhaps they are failing to communicate with each other.

First, what was the bill you paid for. Was it for the same amount? Second, Collection agencies don't just collect past due debt. They are sometimes used for collecting any debt.

But no, you can't sue for hurt feelings. You need to show some damage. So the first thing you need to do is get it straightened out about what the bills are for.
