I am a mom of two children both born via c-section I just found out I'm expecting baby #3 despite being on the depo shot. I am looking to have a vbac I found a midwife who is willing to do it for me. Im just worried cause so many obgyns refuse to partake in vbac deliverys should I be worried and go for a repeat c-section or should I countinue trying to have a vbac. Please give me your opinion.
As a labor and delivery nurse, my advice would be to go ahead with the c/s.
Because you have had 2 sections already you are at an increased risk of uterine rupture caused by the contractions during labor.

When did you have the c-sections? Why did you have them?
Both of my c-sections were lower transverse. The 1st one was done because when I was in labor I did not progress past 5cm because my little girl had her haed turned to the side witch kept her from coming down the birt cannal also her heart rate started to drop cause the cord was wraped tight around her neck my 2nd c-section I opted for because they told my I had to apply at the hospital and it may take up to 6 weeks and a the time I was already almost 37 weeks so he told me it would be best to just have a c-section and I decided with baby number 3 I wanted a vbac Im just neverous and don't know if I should go through with it or opt for a 3rd c-sectionQuote:

My last c-section was 16 1/2 months ago but it will be 23months since my last c-section at time of delivery my ob that delivered my other to don't do vbacs after 2 c/s but he said that's just cause he is not comfortable doing them but also told me there is a higher risk of uterin rupture than after 1 c/s he said it may go up to a 1percent chance rather than a 0.5 percent chance I don't know he said he believes a c/s is honestly more risky than a vbac so I don't know I am so afraid of a uterin rupture or hours upon hours of labor then leading to a c/s that's why I wanted to know other peoples opinion.Quote:

Im worried because recovery is long with a c/s and my husband works nights and I am going to be home by myself with two hyperactiver todlers and a newborn right after a c/s and after a vaganal delivery I would not be in as much pain possibly none at all and I will not be worried while he is at work I don't know so much to considerQuote:

You've never had a vaginal delivery and have no idea of its aftereffects, especially any complications there might be after having had two c-sections. I'm afraid you're setting yourself up for disaster.
I recovered much faster from birth after my c-section than I did after the other kind.
We have a L&D nurse on this site. I'll PM her to look at this thread.
Thanks well with my 2nd c section I was up the next day bending down laughing and in very minimal pain I was on NO pain meds I refused them all and did everything myself no help from the nurses but my 1st c-section was horrible I was in so much pain for about a week and if I sneezed or coughed it hurt so bad I could not even use the bathroom by myself but I also refused the pain meds with baby #1 your right I never had a vaganal birth but from what people tell me it is so much better than a c-sectionQuote:

Well I'm from NJ and in nj we have so many midwives and all you ever here from them is a vbac is the best experince you will ever have and my doctor wanted me to have a vbac with my second but I was almost 38weeks and didn't what to wait until 42 to deliver we have maby 75 hospitals and out of 75- 48 of them are suportive of vbacs that's all you hear about in NJ vbacs that's why I was interested but I love my dr. I don't know if you ever heard of the show a baby story but he is the main dr. on that show and my mid wife was on that show as well doing vbacs. I just hope a 3rd c/s doesn't hurt more than the 1st and vaganal doesn't tear me to shreds.Quote:

Yeah if I decide to go with a vbac I am going to do a water birth in the hospital they told me it would be in the or just in case a problem was to arise they said pusshing usually does not cause the uterin rupture it's the contractions with my son the baby I had contractions for almos 19hr before the dr took me to the or for a c-section now that I llok at it I should have had him naturally but at the time I refused cause I didn't apply and I was so nervous I dialated to maby 7cm by that time but I wanted what I wanted. I agree with you about the risk but Idk if the risk outways the benefits there is even risks with c-sections I mean I can't excape risks its just wich one has lessQuote:
