Tried to remove a small spot/stain from mattress with upholstery cleaner. Now borders of three inch stain have spread to ten inch stain. Looks like stain now covers entire area upholstery cleaner wet. How do I remove the stain border?

I have great success with ordinary dishwashing detergent for anything, including carpets, but you have to be diligent. Use a cloth wet lightly with water and dishwash soap and keep going around the perimeter of the stain, rubbing and rinsing and rubbing again almost till dry.
