    What's wrong with my daushund?
I have a daushund dog, and recently he has gotten these raised areas under his forearms. He seems to be quite sensitive to these areas. Not sure what they are. At first, they were only under 1 leg, but recently found more on the other forarm as well. Any suggestions as to what they could be?

Do you mean soft bumps? Many dogs have them. Two of my dogs had them under their legs but were never sensitive to the touch. I believe they are fatty dieposits that cannot be removed because there are too many veins going into them.

How old is your dog by the way ? Normally this only happens to older dogs.

If you dog is sensitive to them, you should take him to the vet. My dogs' fatty bumps, or whatever, were never sensitive and did not cause any discomfort. They are just ugly.

Need a clarification of the location. Under the 'forearms'? This part of the front leg is the part that contacts the floor when the dog lays down. There are no glandular structures in the forearm to swell up, except small abscesses in the skin. Those are usually itchy. They may even be reactions to insect bites?

My first thought were lymph nodes, which are located more in the armpit region of the front leg. If this is the real location, check also right behind the knees on the back legs, and in the groin areas for similar lumps. If you find noticeable things there as well, go to the vet at your earliest opportunity, but not the emergency vets.

Also, is there any discharge or crustiness to these spots?

My best advice that is not actually a 'guess' is to have his vet take a look, just to be sure. Even if we were to hit 'it' right on the button, there is nothing we can do about it from here, except to 'See your vet'

Is it very hot where you are at the moment?
I don't have AC, and my dogs get mild heat rash. (So do I)

Well, it was about 109 today, with maybe 25% humidity... hot but not too bad in the shade.
