    Harbor Breeze ceiling fan
The fan works, but the lights are dim. Installed a new switch, but that didn't help. What should I do now?

Is this fan controlled by a remote? If not is the wall swicth a dimmer possibly?

Well, have a remote but it is not working properly. The original switch was not a dimmer switch and the new one can dim, but that's all the lights will do is stay dim.

You may not be using the remote but it is still part of the circuit and is functioning to some extent. You should not have a dimmer switch on the line feeding the remote. Several options ; try to fix the remote or replace it, remove the remote receiver from the mix and just use the wall switch. Before you pick I'd like you to try something first. Turn on the light at the wall and move the dimmer to full brightness, now grab your remote and hold down the light button for about 4 seconds, anything change for the better?

Will only come on when using the remote. Will not come on using the wall switch.

Respond to post #5 OK then make it come on with the remote then try the wall switch. Does the wall switch now turn it on and off? Once you have the fan on and the light on, dim as it may be, hold down the light button on the remote for 4 seconds. What changes?

Wall switch will not work at all. Did hold the light button on remote like you said and now the lights will get bright. So the fan and the lights work fine with the remote, but will not respond to the wall switch. As I said, we even installed a new light switch and it is a Harbor Breeze switch. Any suggestions? By the way, thanks for your help. At least we can see now.

If you can turn on the fan and light with the remote but can't turn off at the wall you have either wired the wall switch wrong or this switch does not control the ceiling box with the fan. I guess there is also a very slight chance you have a bad switch but that's like 1:10000

Well, I can control the fan with the wall switch, just not the light. There was a black box in the package with the new switch. Even though the remote is working now, should I install this black box?

"There was a black box in the package with the new switch." can you tell me the brand and model of the switch? There are never spare parts when you buy a new switch, this concerns me.

It is a Harbor Breeze brand switch - Harbor Breeze White 3-Speed Combination Fan and Light Control - Model #: WC-100L. You can look it up on the Lowe's website.

Think the black box is called the receiving unit. After reading several of the reviews, looks like I am not the only one having trouble with the light button.

It is a new switch. Just bought it right off the rack on Saturday at Lowe's. That's the way it was packaged.
