Can they permanently defer me from the national donor registry?
I was put on the deferral registy because I told them I had finish a chemical dependency treatment for alcohol and meth.. I roughly gave them the date I graduated from treatment. I had only smoked the meth and it was a year and a half before I even graduated treatment. They then temporarily deferred me and said I could come back one year later from completion of my program. When I came in with the letter from treatment saying when I graduated, they looked at it and said the dates didn't exactly match up. They then said I was permanently deferred for not telling the truth when the date was only a couple weeks diffrence. Can they do that? I have been clean for 3 years now, and have never once ever injected myself with anything. I'm a full time student with tons of loans to pay off.

Yes, "they" can do that. In fact, "they" HAVE done just that.

I don't understand the you had "only smoked the meth" statement. Are you saying that the deferral was unwarranted?

And, yes, a discrepancy of a few weeks DOES make a difference.
