Thanks for your response. I called the Maytag store where the dishwasher had been purchased and they sent out the repairman. The dishwasher has a 1 year warranty. I have learned a few things since I posted my question. Another appliance dealer told me that in our area the electric current comes in waves, that is , it is not a steady stream of power. He said that at the low end of the waves electronic gear in appliances can be damaged or if there is lightening outside, the electronics can be damaged. He said a dishwasher should be plugged into a surge protecter but the instruction manuel and most sales people won't tell you that. I have read many complaints online indifferent forums and I think this dishwasher model is a problem. Thanks again for your answer.
