    Lazy DVD Drive/ Virus conspericy
Hello I have a lazy DVD Drive. Please Help me

Yeah so I have been having problems with my DVD Drive (Pioneer DVD-ROM DVD 114R) for sometime, I never really cared because I could just use my CD Drive. But then I got Battlefield 2142 which requires a DVD Drive to be read. My DVD drive read CDs but not DVDs, I got it to work once before around x-mas then again yesterday. But today its being lazy again. It seems to reset to an older setting every time I reboot- so maybe this problem is bigger than just my DVD Drive.

Every time I Reboot I also get a message that says "Data Exicution Prevention" and then has a little button that says close, I click it and my Desktop truns off for a moment and reloads. Ive read similar problems on this website and I too am running the windows XP service pack 2 vr. 2002, Im short on cash so I don't have the money to buy a new DVD drive or powerful anti virus software.

Back to the DVD Drive, I have got it to work, but everything I've done gets undone on reboot. I have unistalled, reinstalled, updated drivers, reboot, system restore, etc.The DVD Drive reads CDs but not DVDs! It also makes odds sounds like it banging around in my PC on startup- it is plugged in

If you have an answer PLEASE HELP ME!
I will love you forever ^_^ kthxbye

Have you tried running a lens cleaning CD through this drive.
I had a similar problem with my DVD writer and this fixed it.
