OK, so this is kind of long and I'm sorry about that but I would really love some input. I don't know if this is something to worry about or not. I've always been very instinctive and in tune with people in general but have never experienced a haunting. I got into a relationship recently and she moved in about 10 months ago. Shortly after that, we started hearing whispering, I started feeling little brushes against my arm. We also started getting bad feelings but didn't know if it was just overactive imaginations. My closet door would open for no apparent reason. We started seeing a large, dark shadow, usually just standing in a doorway. My son who was just over a year at the time, began having what we assumed were night terrors. He would wake up kicking, screaming, sweating. His eyes were huge with almost nothing but pupils showing. He had never experienced them. 1 time as we were laying in bed, we heard my name about 5 or 6 times. Each time it got louder and gruffer. So we decided to move for that reason among others. In this new house everything seemed cool. No noises, whispering, bad feelings. Nothing. Then slowly but surely things started happening. It is still in very mild stages. Nothing happens on an everyday basis but it has me wondering anyway. The baby who is now 2, wakes up in the middle of the night pointing toward the back room crying and won't go near that room for quite some time. He points to the ceiling and a particular corner of the room and repeats... no... no... no. I have felt what seems to be someone sitting at the bottom of my bed. Oh another thing I forgot to mention, in the old house, we were replacing fuses constantly but thought it was just the house. About 5 days ago, the same thing happened in the new house and we had to reset the breakers? Any comments? Thank you

Yes, spirits can and do follow people they are attached to. Has your girlfriend had these experiences before she moved in with you? Do you think it had to do with her moving in with you? How long had you been in that house before you had any "paranormal" experiences? It always touches me when children are involved. This type of fear is not something they should have to experience. I know this situation can be frustrating and scary, but rest assured there is help and an explanation out there.

It had crossed my mind that maybe it had followed her but I'm not sure. They had a woman spirit in her childhood home but apparently nothing like this so that doesn't seem to be the case. I had lived in the house for about 7 or 8 months and nothing had happened in that time. The baby being involved and in tune to something is also what's caught my attention mostly and is what has me searching for answers. I am aware that children and animals are more aware of the supernatural than we are so it worries me that he seems frightened by whatever this is. Thank you for your response

Just because something manifests differently does not mean it is a different spirit. It very well COULD be the same spirit as she had experienced when she was younger. It may be acting differently because she is with you now. Spirits sometimes look at people as their property. Not that they CARE for the people, they just can show a sense of ownership. I wouldn't say children are more aware... but contacted more as they are more easily influenced. There is more going on in the spirit realm than you think. It's not an issue of human spirits roaming around trying to make contact. I would look to get this thing removed as soon as you can. Would you be willing to contact a church about it?

I most definitely would contact a church about it if I knew where to go. That definitely makes sense about them showing an ownership and that's one of the possibilities that had crossed our minds. We just weren't sure which of us the spirit was with originally and showing ownership over... not that it matters I suppose. So this does sound to you that this is possibly supernatural? I'm not trying to sound dumb but we're curious and anxious to find an answer. Is this anything to be worried about? I've done some research as I've mentioned but there's so much information that I'm not sure what to believe and what to take with a grain of salt. So your imput will definitely help and be accepted by us.

Well, yes, your situation certainly sounds paranormal. Of course you have to understand there is no way for me to verify that over the internet... but it happens quite often and your story is perfectly in line with paranormal phenomenon. You're right when you say there is a lot of information out there about the subject. In this area you have to be careful what you read because so much of it is based on folklore and superstition... it's quite easy to walk away with something that is simply not true. I certainly recommend that you have a member of a solid church come to your home. It doesn't HAVE to be Catholic or any other denomination. I would make sure that the pastor/priest has had experience with "spiritual warfare". I'm not talking about "blessing" a home... I'm talking about actual removal of spirits. Personally I attend a non-denominational church and I would recommend a church that may be associated with the full-gospel or pentecostal movement. But like I said above, denominations don't mean anything as far as this is concerned. If you need help finding one I would be more than happy to find one for you. What does the pentacostal movement mean? I'm sorry. Do I have to have any proof of a spirit in the house before I talk to a priest/pastor? And just out of curiosity, is there any way to know which of us the spirit is attached to? And is there ever a reason why they attach themselves to someone? When the spirit is removed, will it be able to come back? I've also obviously heard about possession by spirits, so I'm also curious as to how that happens and how to tell if its happening or happened. Is this also something you can answer?

The Pentecostal churches are going to be the ones that function more in the 9 Gifts of the Holy Spirit. While the Gifts are certainly not limited to this bunch or any other denomination... they are going to be the churches that might have a little more experience in spiritual matters. No, I wouldn't say you need proof that you have a haunting. I can't imagine a pastor turning someone away due to lack of proof.

Yes, it is possible to figure out who this spirit is following... possibly with just some one on one counseling from the pastor... however it's not essential to the deliverance. Oh yes, there certainly are reasons spirits attach themselves to people. The person may have opened a spiritual door messing around in the occult, there may be certain vices in someone's life that have allowed a spirit in... it can even go back a couple generations to something a family member did. Spirits operate on legalities and quite often they have rights to be around someone and they can "claim" them as there own. The subject of spirits returning to where they were removed from is actually addressed very specifically by Jesus in Matthew 12:43-44... where he states that spirits do have a will to return... it depends on the condition of that place whether he can actually return there or not. There are other areas in the bible where this is addressed as well. Again, spirits operate on legalities... and sometimes they have the right to return.

I wouldn't worry about possession too much. Yes, it's real and a possibility... but unless someone in the home is having drastic emotional/personality changes, I wouldn't cross that bridge quite yet. I would however keep any fighting/bickering to a minimum. In most cases possession is not going to just happen. People will usually go through stages of backsliding and withdraw before they are completely given over to a spirit like that.

I wish I could talk more personally because I have 2 particular instances I would like to question regarding this potential spirit. 1 thing I will just put out there is that I did participate in a séance and dabbled with a ouija board about 18-20 years ago. I don't know if that's too long ago for this to be connected but the "spirit" my friends and I contacted got extremelly angry at us and threatened to follow me home that night. Said the ground would open up and they would drag me to the clutches of hell. The piece of the ouija board that spells out what the spirit is saying, spun around on the board many times and then flung across the room and hit a mirror, breaking it. Now; when I was a kid this scared me to my core. As an adult, I still think about that day. This may be childish I suppose but its still with me to this day. I guess I'm not necessarilly asking for advice about this but am wondering now if this may have anything to do with what is happening now. It seems as though it wouldn't since it was so long ago but I suppose you never know.

Becaue of your fear your still attatched to the moment. You need to resolve this issue.

Firefly, the instances you mention when you are young are a good possibility. Sometimes demons do wait. They can have an open door into someone's life and then wait to manifest. There are spirits that stay in families and don't manifest in a family member until later in life. Sometimes the "why's" of the spirit world can be confusing. But it could also have nothing to do with your playing with the occult. This might need to be dealt with if you move on to try and remove the spirit.

Both good points. I understand. And I most definitely am not saying that I think this is the reason or believe that it is. Just wondering out loud with words to get your opinions. And thank you for them. I may seem really stupid when it comes to this by questioning things and I seriously will seek help from a minister but we are so worried about everything. What if the cleansing doesn't actually work and just makes things worse? Is that possible? I guess I'm asking what should we expect? I am quite convinced we have a spirit of some sort. Almost positive of it in fact. And another question; do they know when someone's contemplating getting rid of them? Because I don't know if its coincidental but it seems to be getting worse. No, you don't seem stupid. This subject is simply one most people don't believe in until it happens to them. Which is totally understandable.

Unfortunately things can go wrong when confronting these spirits. That is why it is important to have someone who understands these issues. While this authority is FOR the church, not all of the church really understand it. To be honest I have heard of many times when a "haunting" has gotten worse when they tried to deal with it. Demons do have degrees of wickedness and of power... it really depends on what you have.

Spirits do have knowledge, yes... but they don't know everything. They will certainly act like they know it all... and they know a lot. They know scripture... don't think for a minute a bible will cause a demon to run for it's life... they know what it says. Quite frankly a lot of their knowledge can come simply because we can't see them. Who knows how much of our affairs are actually watched. This type of knowledge is really difficult to grasp sometimes and really there are things we just aren't going to know 100% about how they function. One thing for certain is they don't know everything and I take comfort in that. But, yes it is possible that your spirit might know you may seek to have it removed. That is something I don't know.
