You give the baby up for adoption.

I don't know what circumstances have presented themselves, that you find yourself in this position.

That you cannot care for your child any longer, and the obvious choice, the child's father, is not willing (or able) to take custody of him, leaves me to ask- are there other alternatives that you have considered, other than adoption.

Knowing more of why and how this has come about, may result in more helpful answers.

Perhaps members of your family or his family can take over guardianship? I am not sure if the family members are good candidates for raising a two year old, but I do know that foster care will not cultivate the best in the toddler's development. There are situations where foster care IS the best option, although I would explore other options within the family first.

If you are no longer able to care for your child there are other alternatives. But such a decision IS very difficult and while we can tell you what the alternatives may be without more background on your situation we can't offer any advice on what options are best for you. So please give us more info.

Not everyone is willing to adopt a two year old child and foster care is only a band aid in this case.

Do you receive child support from the father? If not, why not?

You should try to keep your son as long as you can. Maybe with the child support money coming in each month you just might be able to do this.

A child is not a toy to be taken back to the store. It is a huge responsibility to take on by any parent, married or single.

Please rethink giving your child away as I know you will regret this later on.
