I have been sentenced to 5 yrs of federal probation back in 2010. I have been regularly seeing the PO, except a few times when I was in the hospital for surgery. He is now threatening me to revoke my probation because I have failed to meet goals that I set for myself such as joining a gym or volunteering my time more. None of those were conditions of probation just ideas I had that would help with my PTSD. Can he truly revoke my probation because I did not join a gym? Also I was to get a job and have been applying to everything I can here in town but have yet to obtain a job. Can he revoke me even though its not my fault that I am not getting hired. The economy is horrible at the moment and I truly wish that I could work. I've had major health issues that have kept me from working so I went to the state to work with vocational rehab and they are helping me gain employment. The PO also behind closed doors tells me what a slut I am, and that I am always ****ing around. At this point I do not know what to do. I am going to record the next meeting that we have so that I have proof of the nasty things that he says to me. Can someone please help me??

Before you secretly record anything, check your local laws. It's a crime that alone can send you to jail in certain states if its done without the full knowledge of both parties.

It's a one party state when it comes to recordings.

Recording him and causing issues will put you in prison for the rest of your time, if he is replaced, his best buddy will be the next PO.

Can he, he can only send you to the judge. The plans that you make are most likely part of the program, you are to set and develop a plan

Po will talk trash to you trying to get you to do something stupid, like talk back, lose your temper and so on so they can send you back.

If you want to work on doing things, spend the money that you were going to record him with and go to the gym

My program has nothing to do with goals set by me. My crime is white collar and occurrence because I looked the other way when a military man degraded the gove. But thank you for your input.

And I've never been to prison or jail.

Your sentence to probation is instead of prison, if they revolk your probation, they send you to jail or prison.

If you plan on trying to fight with PO yes sorry you are a fool.

I don't plan on fighting. I just don't see how it is legal to arrest someone for not going to a gym or any life plan I myself have made. It is highly unprofessional to call someone names regardless of what position they hold. Abuse of power is not accecptable. I guess without knowing the entire story you can't have an educated opinion. But thank you anyway.

If you somehow DID secretly record this jerk's inappropriate comments to you who do you think will listen to this recording anyway and what do you plan on doing with it then?

I'd join the YMCA gym and go. Who knows, you just may like it as exercise can help with feel good endorphans in the brain. And as for a job, get anything that is offered to you. Keep trying. If this job thing is part of your written probation rules then by golly, get a job or sit in jail. The written probation agreement you signed means that you will adhere to those rules or sit in jail. You should also give your PO a list of the places you did look for a job so this way they can literally see you ARE trying to get a job. It could save your behind from jailtime.

And as for the nasty stuff that he says to you, are you that thin skinned that this guy can "get" to you? You could complain to his super to get transferred to another PO but then again they all may just be buddy/buddies and this would get you nowhere.

Do you go in for your face to face meetings looking like a floozy or do you dress in business attire? He could be jumping to the wrong conclusions about you due to the way you dress.

Also, you mentioned the word "base". Are you in the military or is your husband in the military? If that is the case, then by golly pay attention to these guys as they do not play and they have the pen to sign you into prison. If you don't find work in your town try several towns over. If you have a car, go to these towns and get a job there. Sounds like they are just itching to put you in prison for a good spell. Don't give them the ammo they need to do that to you as it is much easier to do preventive measures now versus you try to undoe their tyranny while sitting in prison. Think about it.

Show up looking like you're going to your grandmother's funeral. The older the PO is the tighter wound they are about dress, appearances, etc as well as your attitude. I've had PTSD years ago from an auto accident and can well understand how upset you are over this BUT you must remember they don't care about how upset you are they care about themselves and adhering to THEIR rules. And you are probably not the first person to be yelled at by this PO either.

If he's calling her a SLUT, and she has PROOF, then a violation of probation hearing would be an EXCELLENT place to use it. He'll NEVER sustain a violation. I think it's GREAT protection...

While I believe in cooperating with probation officers, I don't believe in bending over for them. Clearly, that's WHY her conditions of probation are WRITTEN, and she should follow them to the letter. But, when it comes to enforcing rules HE MAKES UP, I balk.

I WOULDN'T balk, however, BEFORE I had a recording of him calling her nasty names.

Exie I think this is a military matter and not a civilian matter. And the military plays differently than the civies do when it comes to taping them or video taping them. She could wind up with more of a problem by taping the PO. Don't want to heap more problems on her than she already has. The Judge at the VOP can throw out her tape and then where is she - up a creek without a paddle?

They may just be out to make an example of her and are just biding their time until she does screw up and they can violate her. She may be followed by "feelers" - why would the PO claim she was **ucking around - don't think he pulled that out of his hat. He may just be hinting to the fact she is being watched. Those military guys don't play when they want to snag you and put you in prison as an example.

I've spoken to a few friends of mine who are/were in the US military and they find your "story" hard to believe - getting 5 years probation for not squealing on someone badmouthing the government.

What really happened?

We get people on probation on here all the time that like to "fairytale up" what they were really convicted of. Seems like you're a troll lady as you would not receive that much probation for this crime. Also why would you have to find another job and still be living on base? That does not add up either. Like why would you need to join a gym when there are ample work out facilities on base. Right there you are lying.
