Hi I am Tizzy from Missouri, what can I do if my landlord has sold my place right after I moved in and the soon to be new owner called me today and said I have until Friday to get out?
I guess this means you are in a tizzy. Sorry, couldn't pass it up. In most states your lease remains in force if the building is sold. Call your local housing authority for specific info in your area. The new landlord may be just trying to get you to blink.
Ok, if the old owner "sold" the property, if you have a written lease the new owner is obligated to honor it. If you have a written rental agreement they have to honor that. If you have no written agreement, you are on a month to month rental ( unless you are on a weekly rental)
So if you pay on a monthly basis, they have to give you a month notice.
If the property was foreclosed, the new owner does not have to accept your old lease.
So merely inform them, you are sorry for their problem, but you have the right for a 30 day notice and will be glad to move out within that time frame.
