I've just getting a new dog (staffi crossed with coli) three days ago, she was fine when we got her but yesturday we came home from being out on a walk and we saw she was struggling to walk, then noticed she had a cut on her pad. She cleaned it a few times and we left it until this morning when we noticed she was walking better, but again tonight she is really struggling to walk now and just keeps throwing herself onto the floor and lying down, her previous owners told us when we got her she was perfectly fine but we don't think they've been completely truthful about her age as she seems to look older ( may just be colouring).shes very energetic during the day and just wants to play but the last two nights she isn't walking right she was in kennels before her previous owners had her as well. Any help with this would be much appreciated! Worried about her!

It seems that something is definitely making your dog uncomforatable, whether it be the cut on her pad, or perhaps she has somehow injured herself. When she is walking take notice of her gait. Does she walk like a normal dog or is something a little "off." Could it be that she is getting tired easily and just doesn't want to walk?
Either way she should probably be checked over by your Vet. Dogs can damage ligaments and tendons just like people. And you should be able to get a little more accuracy about her age at the same time.

Something to keep in mind. Paw pads are like our finger nails. They do grow back or heal if damaged, but it can take time.

My main worry, if there's a noticeable injury to the pad, is that whatever injured the pad is still present. She could have stepped on something and it's imbedded in her paw.

A vet is your best bet. If something is stuck the vet will remove it. Either way, she should be looked at, especially since you're questioning her previous owners and the lifestyle she had with them.

Until you see the vet, no more walks. Obviously this paw problem is bothering her.

Ditto to Altenweg and LadySam. Staffies are tough, and if she refuses to walk, something is really hurting her. That foot needs a good looking at.

Thanks for your help, spoke to the vets this morning and they told me to keep her rested up for two days as she may not be used to the amount of excersice, and if she's no better then take her to the vets, the cut on her pad is healing well they've advised me to stop her cleaning it and bath it in salty water as much as she'll let me. But I'm going to wait 2 days like they said and if she's no better take her to the vets, hopefully it won't come to that, but thanks for your help!!

Thanks for the update, please continue to keep us posted. A great slat to use is epsom slats. I swear by them If she allows you, just put her paw in a bucket for as long as she will allow it. I hope she is feeling better.
