Above ground pool water outtake should it be shooting to side, on top, on bottom, or somewhere in middle?

Are you talking about the skimmer box? The word outake is not a term used in pools so what did you mean exactly?

The discharge side coming from the pump back to the pool is to circulate the water, if you can change it's direction do so once a week. It will help dissolve and distribute any chemical that you have added.
