How did you get relinquishment papers signed without the adoption proceeding immediately? Did he relinquish in a court?

I would believe that unless the adoption proceeds almost immediately, your ex could change his mind right up until the time of the adoption.

However, I doubt that the papers you are talking about are legitimate until they are filed in a COURT---so, there's nothing to change his mind about because he still HAS parental rights until a court takes them away.

Most courts require that the adoption go through within x amount of time of the relinquishment. If you don't complete the adoption, his relinquishment may be null and void anyway.

I would still believe that he has until the adoption is complete in court to change his mind.

He can "change" his mind and file a motion to that effect up to the day of the adoption. The courts may or many not accept it, or may have a hearing and rule against him.

The actual document if it has any restrictions should state them in them. Normally if signed in court with the judge, the judge will be less likely to allowed him to come back and change
