Main door damage because of water from gutters.
The bottom of my main door is showing signs of peeling because of water flowing through the spave between my gutters and roof. I am fixing the gutters, but I wanted to see what could I do to fix the main door. A picture of the damage to the main door is attached below.

    Thanks,

After you fix the gutter the door needs to be striped bare and sanded. This finish is beyond repair and some wood is starting to deteriorate. Use a spar or marine varnish if you don't want to paint.

Scraping and sanding and a good sealant before repainting the door is all that appears necessary. How is the rest of the door ?

The rest of the door is immaculate. It is just the bottom that is peeling. Less than 5% of the entire door.

You could try to refinish just what is damaged, but unless you can match the paint and colour it won't look good. You could always clean it up and put brass on the bottom to cover the damage. This would save you refinishing the whole door. The brass will only enhance the door, not detract from it and actually save the bottom from shoe damage, any kind of damage.

Thanks for your replies. What tools and materials would I need to refinish?

For some reason I cannot read your last post. It shows up on the Summary page, but not on the thread-specific page. Can you try posting again?
