    Tinea Versicolor and Self tanner
.So, I have just discovered that the white spots covering my upper body is a fungus called tinea versicolor. Apparently its common, although it still makes me uncomfortable to think I have an active fungus on my skin. This condition is ruining my summer. I feel so self conscious because it is covering my arms and torso. I am tan so the spots appear brighter than usual. Does anyone know if a self tanner will even out the spots? I have stopped laying out, but its going to take weeks for me to fade, and I want to wear short sleeves again. Any advice would be helpful at this point.

The self tanner won't work because of the pigmentation in your skin. The self tanner only reacts with the top layer, therefore, you will still have the light and dark spots, and probably another problem after the tanner starts to fade.
