I have been out of the home for 7 months and I am not married.. My ex-boyfriend is wanting to keep half of my furniture and it all belonged to me before we moved in together... Why can't you just go and get your furniture? Did he say he was keeping it? Why complicate the issue by 'filling out forms to turn it on him"/ Has he told you his is keeping the property. Any forms you fill out will have to be legally bound and that will cost you money to file them. Anyway, I don't think there is 'any form' that you could use unless you want to charge him with theft.

The laws of your area will determine what happens to your property and how it should be treated.

First ANY question on law needs to include your general locale as laws vary by area.

Second, You moved out 7 months ago, but left some of your things there. Was there an agreement that you could come pick them up? Do you have proof of ownership?

There are no "forms", you would have to take him to small claims court to release your belongings. To win, you would have to prove that you own the items and that you did not abandon them according to the prevailing law.

After 7 months, he may well have a right to claim it. The fact you did not get rid of his before, means nothing. And you let him come back. Thus he reclaimed his property.

Each state has its own time frame but in any case, you could not have expected him to keep it.

Your only choice is to sue in small claims court for the value.

Also "trying to turn it" is childish and not how the legal system works

Well to tell you the truth about the whole mess... It all started with me taking care of my mother, a cancer problem... then I found out he was seeing someone else... I did not ever think he would try to do something like this.. I have been with this person for like 16 years.. so in his way of looking at things.. I LEFT... and truthful, I just hated to even go around him... I will just go and get the law and try it that way and see what happens because he had nothing when he came into the relationship and I will darned if he is getting it now... I told him he could have anything he has purchased since being with me, butt, that is not good enough, I guess... Thanks a lot,

Legally, it doesn't matter who left whom. What matters is whether you can prove ownership and whether you left the property so that the laws of abandoned property apply.
