Anyone have any information or thoughts about what kind of paint could or should be used to paint the interior of a microwave oven.
None that I am aware of.
Just time to buy a new micro wave
Thanks everybody.
For some reason I feel compelled to explain my question.
The question was ask by my BIL (through the wife).
He has a microwave that he likes that has a little rust under the carousel. My first response was like Chuck's, buy a new microwave. It is not a money thing with him, he has more of that than he can count. Just that he likes the one he has and he is the type of person that doesn't like to waste anything. To him throwing it out if it can be painted would be a waste.
I have often spoken of AMHD and he asked that if I didn't know, would I ask you guys.
Since I didn't know, I was obliged to ask.
Again thanks.
Did the above link help?
Yes, I didn't know that such a paint existed. I can't imagine what the difference between it and an enamel appliance paint would be. I think I would just use an enamel paint, after all a microwave doesn't get hot. But I can now give him the choice.
I didn't either, but could believe vapors released?
It could be a certain common paint that has received Testing?
My two cents on this subject is that painting the interior of a microwave is a VERY bad idea. If there is any material in the paint that is affected by microwave energy, the pain itself can superheat, outgassing who knows what gasses... into what? Your food? Virtually all microwaves which are painted by the manufacturers have baked-on finishes! I would not risk it.
