    Fl laws on child abandonment?
My daughter and granson have lived with us for 7 years. She is in an abusive relationship and the child refuses to go with her. She leaves him in our care for weeks at a time maybe coming home and staying one night with her son. Is this considered abandonment? She doesn't work, have a licence, or contribute anything to his care except foodstamps.

No, it would be considered a good parent for proving proper baby sitter for the child.

She may be shown to be a bad mother or parent, she may be shown, not to be the primary care giver.

Have you considered trying to get her to sign perhaps guardianship over to you.

Also where is the bio father, since he could have rights to custody if the mother is leaving the child for weeks at a time
