Is it possible
Female cats, having their ovaries removed, cannot become pregnant. Absolutely not. Why do you ask ?
Because I think my cat is pregnant with the signes and the vet said it was possible
A proper spay means no ovaries and no uterus... so no eggs and nowhere for fetuses to grow.
What signs is she showing? It could be another medical or behavioral problem.
If you have all the answers why come here and ask then. If both ovaries and the uterus are removed, then no, your cat can't get pregnant. If you asked the question of your vet who did the job, then he didn't do the WHOLE JOB.
If there is no urterus for the for the babies to grow in, then how do you think this will be accomplished? I hope not in the fallopian tubes which is called a tubual pregnancy and would be exptremely dangerous and uncomfortable for your cat.
I suggest, as I said, go back to start asking the vet questions. If you think your cat is pregnant, and you assumed she was spayed, then you have to do something quick.
Tick
My first question to you would be is this a cat that you know for certain has been spayed? Or is it a cat that you acquired that was already an adult, took her for a check up and the vet determined that there was a spay scar? If that is the case at times those scars are so small that it can be a little misleasding as to whether it is actually a scar from being spayed. The only sure way to know in that case is to have the actual procedure "performed" to see if there is a uterus and ovaries. If you know she has been spayed and spayed properly then in fact and to echo the answers you already have, she can not get pregnant. And by other signs do you mean she is swollen looking or are they behavioral?
I'd like to know what kind of vet you were talking to. Telling you a spayed cat could get pregnant is like saying a woman who had a full hysterectomy can get pregnant.
All the reproductive organs are surgically removed during a spaying, rendering the cat incapable of reproducing. If a cat could still get pregnant after being spayed, there would be no point for the procedure. It's not like cats are capable of practicing safe sex.
Yes, its possible, if the spaying procedure was not done properly. It has just happened to us! When our cat was spayed, the vet said that they couldn't find one of her ovaries. We didn't think too much of it at the time, not realising that all of the reproductive organs should have been removed. Several months later she started to 'show'. At first of course we thought she was just getting fat, but soon enough the truth was inescapable - she was pregnant! This morning she gave birth to four kittens... and so far there don't seem to be any problems. The birth went smoothly and quickly. So the long and the short of it is that there is a probably a very small chance that when your cat is spayed, they might still get pregnant.
Old thread, so I'm closing it.
