I receive dvds from netflix, they almost always jam up somewhere during the viewing. Sometimes wiping them off helps, some times not. I am wondering if the problem is with the dvd or with my dvd player?

I believe the problem is with your dvd player but it could be with netflix because the dvds are prviewed. If you want to know for sure you can use the movie in another dvd player. If you don't have another dvd player you can go out and buy a brand new movie and see if it helps.

Your laser is getting weak on your player, When you put slightly dirty disk in its more likely to show problems. You should have clean disks anyway! Cleaning the laser can help but in a few months you will start to see more problems,escpecially when it gets warm.
This is the reason I got out of the repair biz, was no longer worth the cost of repairs.
Time to go shopping..
