We live on an island in the Caribbean and have installed an electric fence for security. We have a wooden ramp that connects to our deck. We have installed a 110v controller producing 7000 volts on 4 wires that cross our ramp and one wire that encircles the deck. The controller is grounded to 3 copper/galvanized poles located 10 feet apart 50 to 70 feet from our home ground. My question is: Since wood, flip flops and rubber sole shoes are not great conductors will an intruder actually receive a jolt if they were to touch the wires. (I know that I don't want to test it and am hoping you can provide me the answer without me having to have my wife test it). Thank you for your time... Frank Reed

Tear that thing down NOW. You will definitely kill someone, probably yourself. At that voltage you probably don't have to touch it to get shocked.

From my farm boy days, a long time ago, the voltage on electric fences for livestock was about 40 volts.

A Zareba 110 v 60hz 15 mile controller

I will say this, these are designed for livestock, you mention "intruder".

I am not sure what these systems do to humans.

Morally and legally I think this is something you need to confirm.
