    Parental Rights
I gave up my paternal rights 7 years ago under bad legal advice and overall bad decision making. My ex is not with the guy who was supposed to adopt my daughter. If the adoption did not go through, can I get my rights back? I live in NY. Thank you for your help!

Under what circumstances did you give up your rights? If you gave them up for the purpose of adoption (and your "ex" would have had to be married in order for the adoption to take place, he wasn't just some "guy"), yes, you can revoke it.

Agreed, if you relinquished rights to clear the way for an adoption that never occurred, you might be able to get your rights back. But you need an attorney to go about this.

Agree, in fact normally the signing over your rights for an adoption, does not actually take place till the adoption.
The day the adoption happens, the judge signs the paper signing over rights,

You merely signing the paper does not take away your rights, the judge signing it, puts it into force.

So if there was no adoption, very likely you never lost your rights
