I have a Maytag Refrigerator Model number MTB1753ARW. The light bulb needs replacing, and I cannot seem to be able to remove the cover. I have two questions. Is it absolutely necessary to unplug the refrigerator, as it is heavy, and not on wheels. And second how do I remove the cover easily? Thank you

The cover comes off very easily. I wouldn't think it's necessary to unplug unit. Make sure to look under unit and clean out coils. It's good practice to clean it every six months. To clean it you will need to unplug it and pull it out from wall. Good luck. DrTom4444
