I was living in a basement apartment in Michigan and it flooded after a rain storm. All of my electronics where ruined along with my bed. I got a contractor to come look at the apartment and he informed me that the subpump that was suppose to keep the water out of the apartment was installed inproperlly witch was the reason of the flood. Now who is responible for all my belongsing. The landlord said that it was actully the seconded time it had flooded.

The landlord is actually responsible for the flooding, isn't that obvious. He admitted it is the second time that happened.

It is 'sump pump' actually and is responsible for ground water in low lying areas.

So, your next questions is??

If it's "correct OP's spelling time", the sump pump was "supposed" to keep the water out, not "suppose to".

So you get the poster child award for NOT having renter's insurance which would have covered eveything ruined by the water.

The landlord is not responsible for your stuff.

What ever prompted you to rent a basement apartment and NOT have renter's insurance? You take the cake even if this is the second time it flooded.

Always get renters insurance it's not very expensive and covers YOUR stuff in case of fire, flood, tornado, theft. Can't afford $25 a month? Too bad as that is a ballpark for $15K of renters insurance.

I'm sure you won't be the poster child any longer after this lesson is well learned.
