    Can't access another computer
    Hi

I have ten computers in a single network. All the computers are workgroup. When I am accessing node1 from node2, it is accessible. But when I am accessing node2 from node1, a window appears with the title bar

    "connecting to node2"

    "User name : node2\guest"

    Appears but is dimmed.

Password column also appears asking for the password, but doesn't takes any password.

How can I access this computer?

    Any Help?

Open search window, on left panel click "computers or people", then "a computer on the network", and then type IP address of the computer, you are seeking.
It works in many causes (Problem is e.g. when PC has firewall with list of allowed connecting IP addresses, e.g. server and all any options are restricted. It is problem to see PC like this.)

Also make sure File And Print sharing has been enabled and some resource is set to be shared.

In a WfW setup you need to ensure that you have the same account on both machines with the same password. Otherwise you're going to get prompted for username/password since the other machine doesn't know which credentials to use. So in your case you need to make sure that you login to node1 using an account/password that exists on node2 and is identical to that of node1.

    Network problem
    Hi,

    Thanks for your response.

I have tried out your response. But still it is not working. When I type IP address of that computer, again the same problem arises. Though it searches the computer on the network, but in the details pane of "search result", in "folder option", it shows "unknown".

    Any other help?

Can you ping the that PC from any other? Did you make sure the account exists on that computer?

P.S. Please don't use PMs for follow-up. We will be notified if you add a follow-up to a thread.
