Why isn't it legal for gay marriage in Arizona?
What do gay couples need to get married in New York city
There has been no change in the law. Most states do not allow gay marriage or honor it from other states.
The few states that currently allow it, were mostly done though court action, not vote of the population.
Marriage in the US has been normally defined as between one man and one women
This article:
Why Arizona Flipped On Gay Marriage - CBS News
Discusses what has happened in AZ on this issue. AZ has passed a constitutional amendment preventing legislation to permit it, making it impossible for the legislators to pass such a law unless the amendment is repealed.
At the moment gay couples CAN'T get married in NY City (or State, for that matter).
Gay couples have to wait for the law to go into effect (30 days from June 14th) and then they apply for a marriage license the same way opposite sex couples apply - birth certificate, dissolution of previous marriages, proof of identity.
I've merged your threads since they bear on the same question.
As Judy said, once the law goes into effect, which is July 24, then you would apply for a marriage license under the same rules that currently exists.
But I do have to wonder about these questions considering your other question:

No its about what it means from a dictionary standpoint. Your paper is wrong. Gay is a blanket term.
Well excuse me for using the word "gay" instead a lesbein! And what is your wonder scottgem?
You don't think it odd that in one thread you ask about same sex marriages and in another you ask about the best time to get pregnant? The two don't seem to go together and does make us wonder why the same person is asking such disparate questions. So much so that we would like an explanation.
OP has put all of this information in her profile.
Her questions make perfect sense and I believe they have both been answered.
To the OP-did you have any further questions? Please don't feel like you can't ask questions - any variety of them - on this site. Sometimes we refer to your other questions so as to help us get an understanding of how to best assist you in finding answers, and we don't mean to disrespect you in doing so.
Likewise, with all due respect, OP believes she is entitled to ask "... as many questions as i would like, it shouldnt matter what circumstances they are under" which, I'm sure you agree, is not totally true.
Based on the three threads I also questioned her age and whether she was sincere.
Apparently she is. This certainly isn't the first time I've been wrong. I looked at her profile and, quite frankly, I didn't see any info concerning age and whether she is or is not gay. Perhaps it was added later.
At any rate - advice under some circumstances is not a given. Age is one of them.
This info was added to the profile, not placed there initially.
But this begs the question of how they are trying to conceive. If they are trying to conceive through artificial insemination, then the questions about best time to conceive are curious, since they would have been advised this by the doctor handling the insemination. If they are trying to conceive naturally, then there are many ethical and legal complications involved. At 19 they may not be aware of them.
I was not trying to discourage questions, but to get a full picture of the situation so we can provide the best help for her.
I only saw her profile with all the info in it, it sounds like it was updated, but at least now it helps the answer-ers!
I was just worried that all the skepticism (which is reasonable without all the facts) would drive her away without answers, so I wanted to reassure her that we want to help... I wasn't trying to chastise anyone and I hope no one thought that I was!
