Lost Water supply ground, How do I fix this ?
My 200 Amp service was bonded by two driven rods and connection to my copper piping. I bought this house used and without much history. At some point it seems like the Water company changed the main line to a poly 3/4" line that hooks to my existing copper piping. Now all the copper pipe in my house is no longer grounded by the supply pipe. What should be done ? Should I drive another rod where the ground hooked up to my piping and connect there ? I am working in a crawl space, driving a rod would be tough. If I don't need to do a new rod should I disconnect the ground from my copper piping ? Thanks for your help

I suspect you will not need to do anything.

Confirm that there is a min of #6 copper wire connecting the neutral/ground bar in the panel with the Main Breaker to the two ground rods, and a min #8 copper wire from the neutral/ground bar to the copper cold water pipe in the home.

The two ground rods ground the neutral/equipment ground of the electrical system, and the wire to the copper water pipe bonds the water pipe to equipment ground.

Do not disconnect the wire bonding the water pipe.

I know you know this, and I suspect it was just a typo, but this needs to be a #4cu, not #8. sized for the 200A service.

I hate when I do that, zoned out and forgot the 200 amp was posted had 100 Amp in mind.

It needs to be a #4 copper.
