My Ex wife met this man on Plenty of Fish 9 weeks ago, 6 days after meeting him introduces him to our 3 daughters, he has a marijuana card she told me he picked her up and his car reeked of marijuana, he is unemployed, My ex told my daughters he gets $400.00 a month income, and after 5 weeks moved him in with her, and she began to leave our ten year old daughter with him to babysit while she worked, my daughter told me that under his care he would frequently leave on errands? For hours at a time, and she saw him smoking in the back yard, he has no job, but can afford a late model 4 door full size Silverado, rent, utilities, groceries and medicinal marijuana?? I asked her how he made his income and she said she knew but refused to tell me. My daughter has moderate to severe asthma and She just returned from Asthma camp, just got her home today the American lung Association Doctor told me she was having frequent Wheezes and rashes while at camp, and her symptoms became more sever about a month ago after the BF moved in I told her about my Ex's new BF and she said there is a strong correlation between Asthma, allergies, and marijuana especially if he smokes in the car, I just saw my Ex who came to pick up my daughter in his truck where he smokes and I told her what the doctor said and She just laughed it off and told me to give it up!! We were just at court Thursday June 23rd, now I feel like filling for an Ex-parte I have a strong suspicion this guy may be dealing drugs, My 16 y/o daughter told me she told her mom how she felt about her new BF and my Ex cussed her out while having dinner at a public restaurant, the sad part is my Ex works for CPS!!

You might be right. However, he might be doing it LEGALLY. Apparently, you live in one of the states that allows patients access to medical cannabis. Consequently, this gentlemen COULD be involved in the LEGAL distribution of pot.

But, what he does for a living isn't really your business, is it? Besides, he doesn't seem to be DOING anything to your daughters except not being respectful about where he smokes.. He SHOULD smoke outside, but... Would you be as concerned if he was doing the same thing with cigarettes?

Hi Excon, thank you for your reply , I don't have a problem with the BF, I have a serious health concern for our 10 y/o daughter, she has had 2 extended Hospitalizations, 5 ER Visits, and 2-911 calls, 1 from her doctors office, due to her Asthma, She just got back from Asthma camp, when I picked her up The Doctor and medical Director for the our Regional American lung Association office was very concerned with her health, I explained the situation to her and she told me that there is a Strong association between Asthma, Allergies, and marijuana, she has a stage 4 (most severe) reaction to trees and grass which is strongly associated with Marijuana pollen, She is on about 5 different Asthma and Allergy meds, it's not your typical Asthma, when I went to drop off my daughter to my Ex she was smoking inside the garage and our daughter ran to her to give her mom a hug right into a cloud of smoke, with total disregard for our daughters health, so my concern is they both smoke, and 3 days after the judge ordered no smoking in the house in the car or around our daughter, problem is The judge has no jurisdiction over the BF, he can smoke in his car and does. So why does she pick him up in his car?? I've been a Paramedic Firefighter for 18 years, unfortunately I've had experience with Children and asthma related deaths, It's hard enough to see that, but even much harder to see my Ex have a total disregard for our daughters health, and to play it off, like it's nothing with her comment "Give it up" seriously if this was your daughter and you've seen children die from this, would you have a problem?

Yes, but it doesn't sound like it's unsolvable.. Clearly, the boyfriend has SOME sense of where he should smoke and where he shouldn't. It's not as though he's DEFYING you. By the same token, your daughter should learn where she can go and where she can't, and which car she can ride in and which one she can't.

It sounds REALLY easy to solve. Maybe you can't TALK about it... I get that... So, WRITE her a letter. (I'm BIG on letters.) Ask her to ask the boyfriend to comply, or you WILL take other action... Send your letter certified, return receipt requested, so she knows you're serious.
