    Bricks in Potholes
We live on a private dirt/gravel road in the country . There are potholes from 6-10 feet wide & 12-18 inches deerp in some areas. My parents have several thousand old & broken bricks the type with ho;es in them in a pile on their property they want to get rid of. We want to know if we can fill the deepest holes with them until we can afford to buy rock or will they ruin or puncture the tires on our cars . Eventually we will cover them over with rock/gravel or dirt when we can afford it . The City & County will not help in any way to fill them & most the 7 famlies living on the road are broke so we all keep dodging the potholes . Does anyone know ? Thank You

U should have no trouble using bricks to fill holes. Be sure to fill holes in bricks with dirt at each layer. This will lessen the amount of sinkage u get as dirt settles. Be sure to put at lest 3'' of dirt on top layer.

Have used this method in my driveway. Been good for 5 years.

Put them in the holes, hammer with a sledge to break up and then, as chuck says, pour dirt or gravel over them. I use a process like this on a country road except I use river stone to fill holes.
