    Lost sibling
My son passed away in a car accident. When we told his brother it was an overwhelming effect, he went from one person to another in seconds. He never spoke of his brother for years. But now he says he feels lost, and thinks about his brother every day. He is drinking heavaly, and I am scared I am going to lose him. I need to know how to help him. My heaart is sinking.

First, you continue to post foolishness. Second, this doesn't even make sense. How old are you?

To the person who asked - grief takes many forms. There are people who sort of take a deep breath, think they have faced the loss, go on - and then some time later that very loss hits them. After this period your son realizes that his brother is gone forever.

Some time after my late husband died I woke up one morning and thought, "This isn't a dress rehearsal. This is forever." Does that make sense.

Your son needs to find help with his grief - a group, a counselor, a clergyperson, someone he can talk to. He also needs to get some help with his drinking. I would venture a guess that he is drinking to escape. At any rate, he needs to find a way (as long after his brother's death as this is) to express his grief, deal with it and then move on.

I'm very sorry for your loss.
