How do I find out if my home has a basement
Access would most likely be under the stairs IF you had a basement.
Also check with your neighbours as they maybe able to help.
Alicialeanne, Is this a trick question? You don't know if you have a basement? On the first floor, open all the doors and look for steps that go DOWn. Now, if you find steps, turn on the lights and walk down. When you get to the bottom, you have found a basement.
I will have to actually go in their defense, I bought a older home in El Dorado Springs MO one time, many ( did I say many) years ago. It was a older house, that had a tree sticking into the roof. Well I started remodeling the single story home. New roof, new sheet rock and so on. No stairs, no nothing,
Well it turned out there was a old "cellar type door" in the kitchen floor, but when they put in a new floor, the put the plywood right over the top of the opening, thus no entrance.
I was going under the house to work on the plumbing, and it was a strange foundation, several different ones under the home where it was obvious additions were done several times over the years. Well one had only a small opening, so I slid into it ( and drop) I fell about 8 feet into yep a storm cellar or what latter became my wine storage.
But if in doubt, crawl all around under the house and see if you find one.

What can we say Chuck except that some men should always be under the close supervision of a good wife. :D :D :D :DQuote:

I often buy "depressed" property and fix and flip them. That was one of the worst I ever took on. ** but not the worst.
I have often bought investment homes without telling my wife, but that is my business and investments. We have always had a understanding, that my investment as long as I was making money was my concern
Now the speed boat was another issue.
And some good profit. I used to buy a lot of those 10 and 15 thousand dollar homes. Still don't know why they called me a slum lord ?

I lost my basement back up North once but I found it under the house.
HINT: Look down! Good luck and let us know if you find it. Tom
PS: If you live in Florida south of Tampa then forget it. We don't have basements here,

You mean like this one, Harold?
This is a walk out basement pool... ;)
Yep, skinny dipping in the winter time.
Only during a hurricane Harold. Cheers, TomQuote:
