    Self piercings
I haven't got any piercings, and I want my cartilage done, I was thinking of doing it myself.
What do you need to get to make it safe? What will happen if you don't clean you piercing?

Sterile instruments. Since you can't sterilize them yourself, you can't make it safe.

Get it done by a professional.

Piercing yourself is a stupid idea.

A friend of mine back in high school pierced her own ear, ended herself in hospital to get rid of an abscess that had formed and was close to giving her a very very nasty bacterial infection, if it entered her blood stream it could have killed her. She was off school for 2 months, missing a whole load of work and had to catch up. Also, she now has a mangled ear, looks like the ear of a rugby player (cauliflower ear).

So, find a local and reliable piercing establishment and get it done there is my suggestion.

Hope you make the right decision. Ramona.
