Collection agency - debt of 15 years
How do I get agencies to stop calling for a debt incurred with an ex-husband from over 15 years ago.

When a new one calls with the same request, I get a million calls, send them a registered letter telling them it's not my debt and to take me to court - then they just "sell" it to another company and I have to do it all over again.

Can I sue the original debt holder for passing the file to agency to agency to agency?

Im curious. How is it you believe it isn't your debt? Do you have anything in a divorce decree stating it isn't?

Califdad asks a good question. If you incurred this debt as a marital debt, then you are still responsible for it.

Agreed, if it was a valid debt during marriage, and there was no specific agreement in the divorce for this to be assumed by him.

But they may keep selling the debt till it is paid.

Even if the divorce agreement stipulated that the ex is responsible for the debt, that is not binding on the creditor.
