Ceiling fan wiring diagrams with red wire?
Wondering if any one was around to answer a question about wiring a celing fan, kind of stuck and don't want to rip out my new drywall. Thanks

I assume this is an existing ceiling box that already had a fan earlier, right? What color wire are coming out of the ceiling, usually black, white ,green/bare and sometimes red. Then tell us about the fan and any light kit, are you using wall switch, pull chains, remote or a combination of these.

Thanks for the quick reply. Here's what I've got 12-3 w/ground &12-2 w/ground at the celing box. 12-3/wground back to the switch. I realized now that I'm backwards from what I probably should be. The switch that I'm using is a double fan and light with a red, black, yellow and ground. The fan motor has a solid black, black/white, white, and a ground. Thanks for any help you can give.

Harold gave a great diagram, wish I had his skills with that stuff. The only thing I could add is that the wire from the light kit is most frequently blue rather than black.
